Overview:
The
X1 Active Crossover is the control center for Evolution subwoofers
and tower bass modules (Note: The X1 contains special equalization
circuitry specifically designed for Evolution subwoofers and tower
bass modules only. Do not use with non-Evolution subwoofers. For
non-Evolution subwoofers or the bass section of tower speakers see
the X2.) It provides extensive front-panel control of all the bass
frequency parameters necessary to integrate Evolution subwoofers
with Evolution monitors or other satellites, and assists in tuning
your system to your listening room.
The X1 can operate as either a single channel (mono) or two-channel
(stereo) unit via a switch located on the rear panel. Operating
the X1 in stereo mode allows the addition of a second subwoofer,
for greater bass reinforcement without the expense of an additional
crossover, or for stereo bass when using the T5 tower or U2 subwoofer.
Controls and features are found on both the front and rear panels.
The X1 can also be rackmounted using the NHT E1 optional rack mounting
kit.
Rear Panel Controls
Two sets of inputs and outputs on the rear panel of the X1
-- differential XLR balanced as well as unbalanced RCA connections
-- for easy hookup with all types of receivers, preamplifiers and
surround processors.
Inputs: Left & Right, LFE. Outputs: Left & Right, LFE
3-position, high-pass filter switch (50Hz, 80Hz, 110Hz) controls
your monitors' low frequency cutoff. The subwoofer output gain switch
allows either 0dB or +10dB settings.
The X1 offers a variety of power mode options; always on, 5-24v
DC trigger, or auto-on/off mode responding to audio signals.

Master
gain adjusts overall level to the subwoofer outputs.
Two
phase controls; 0-180 degree switch, continuously variable control
allowing fine adjustment of phase between 0-90 degrees.
Continuously
variable low-pass filter for integrating the subwoofer with the
monitors. Separate LFE gain control.
Boundary
control, which compensates for the proximity of room boundaries
and allows flat, even response.
